He went on to serve as a professor of veterinary medicine and surgery, chief of veterinary obstetrics and reproduction, and head of the theriogenology section, which he helped establish at the college. Bierschwal then joined the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine as an ambulatory clinician.
